Master the search in Microsoft 365

Can’t remember where you saved a note in Microsoft 365? Was it a draft email? A Microsoft Word doc? A OneNote? Or even a Chat?

Fear not! The search in Microsoft 365 can help you find what you are looking for and it's much quicker than manually looking through folders or drives. This is not just an in-app search, this is searching across the apps for you.


  1. Go to microsoft365.com or office.com

  2. Click in the Search box at the top of the screen

3. Type in keywords that are specific to what you are looking for, this can be words from the title or within the content itself. This will search Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams and more.


The search will bring up suggested content as you type, if you don't see what you are looking for click the magnifying glass or 'Show more results'. This will take you to a search results page.

4. You can refine your search from here, using the tabs along the top or the drop downs such as 'File type'.
