How to Use the Search In Google Drive to Get Answers Using Gemini AI

The 'Get answers from Drive' Gemini feature in Google Drive is next level. We are going beyond search and getting answers from Gemini on questions that could have the answers distributed across multiple files and folders.

We tried it this week to ask about a specific client we have been working with for years.

Step 1 - We opened Google Drive and entered our question into the search bar

'Tell us about Client A'

Step 2 - Hit enter and enjoy the results Gemini brings back. Not quite what you were after? Hit enter again for more results or change your question slightly.

The response has given us current data trends and historical data, which will help us with planning future sessions and managing waitlists. We would have had to search through years of Google Sheets and Google Docs for this info, and Gemini has given us what we need in seconds.

At the end of each piece of information, there are links to documents that contain the information provided; you will see these represented by numbers.

Summarising projects is just the tip of the iceberg. From automating spreadsheet data to drafting entire reports in Google Docs, AI is completely reshaping how we work.
