How to Use Copilot to Summarise Your Microsoft Teams Meetings

With Microsoft 365 Copilot, you can get a high-level summary of any Teams meeting in seconds. We use this feature a lot post-training sessions, and in the past, catching up meant scrolling through a messy transcript or asking a colleague for their notes. This is a real productivity hack, especially if you join the meeting late - let Copilot catch you up and summarise your Microsoft Teams Meetings.

Step 1 - Click the Copilot button on the top ribbon

Step 2 - Click 'Start' on the pop-up

This will provide a recap after the meeting, but you can ask questions during the meeting.

If you join a meeting 10 minutes late, you don't even have to ask your colleagues what you missed:

Step 1 - Click the Copilot icon in the top toolbar of your Teams window.

Step 2 - In the side pane, create a prompt or use a prompt suggestion: 'Recap the meeting so far.'

Step 3 - Copilot will give you a private bulleted list of the main topics covered and any decisions already made.

Once the meeting ends, you don't even need to ask for a summary—Teams builds one for you.

Step 1 - Go to the Meeting Chat.

Step 2 - Click the Recap option.

Step 3 - You will see an AI-generated overview, Notes, and Action Items, each with a name attached.

Don't forget you can continue asking Copilot questions on the recap page (there is a Copilot button at the top).
