Live Streaming Internally and Externally with Google Meet

Live streaming in Google Meet can be useful for internal or public broadcasts.

Internal Live Streaming

When setting up a Google Calendar invitation, there is an option to add a ‘Live stream’. This will set up an additional live stream link that you can distribute internally.

Meeting participants join using the Google Meet link, and viewers join using the live stream link. You may want to set up a separate invitation to distribute the live stream link to others.

To see the 'Add live stream' option, click the down arrow next to the settings cog.

When meeting participants join the Meet, they can start the live stream when they are ready. The live stream link will be view-only.

Public Live Streaming Via YouTube

During a Google Meet call, find the Live Streaming option in the ‘Activities’ menu. This is where you can stream to a YouTube Channel you manage or own.

Note: Your YouTube channel needs to be set up for live streaming & your Google Workspace Admin will need to enable YouTube streaming in Meet.
